Transfer Credits: SUNY Empire Makes It Easy

Transferring from another school?

Empire State University is one of the most transfer-friendly schools in the world.

  • Approximately 90% of our students arrive with transfer credits, and more than half of those students attended at least two other institutions.
  • Most institutions only accept up to 60 transfer credits (and are selective about it).
  • SUNY Empire accepts 100% of lower-division credits (up to 79). We also allow an additional 14 upper-division transfer credits (for a total of 93) toward a bachelor’s degree.

How Do You Get Transfer Credits?

There is no special application for transfer students. That means no extra work for you.

Just submit your official transcripts for any credits you wish to transfer when you apply to SUNY Empire.

You can send your transcripts physically or electronically.

For physical transcripts, send to this address:

SUNY Empire State College
Office of Admissions
