Empire State University Learning Coaches (Professional Tutors)
Learning coaches are professional staff who coach and tutor both undergraduate and graduate students. Coaches are available online and onsite in selected locations. Learning Coaches:
- Are employees of the University and have access to Brightspace
- Assist with all types of writing assignments, including the Rationale Essay and Prior Learning Assessment (PLA) essays.
- Tutor math, statistics, finance, accounting and science.
- Coach study skills, including time management and reading strategies.
- Can meet with you weekly so that you have continuity throughout the term
To meet with a SUNY Empire Learning Coach, you may schedule your own appointment via TracCloud, our scheduling system.

On-Demand Tutoring 24/7
The On-Demand Tutoring Service supplements our SUNY Empire Learning Coaches. It provides tutoring when our Learning Coaches are not available. The On-Demand Tutoring service provides:
- 24/7 on-demand, live tutoring in 300+ subjects.
- Interactive lesson space with audio and video available in all subjects and sessions.
- Submit-a-paper service with feedback provided in less than 24 hours, usually less than 12 hours.
NetTutor
NetTutor is our new on-demand tutoring service which is replacing Pear Deck Tutor. The University provides each student 35 hours per term of free NetTutor tutoring. Your hours reset three times per year, at the beginning of every full 15-week term.
Sign into NetTutor with your University log-in.

Empire State University Peer Tutors
Peer Tutors are current undergraduate students or alumni who:
- Tutor specific SUNY Empire courses which they have passed with B+ or above.
- Are recommended by a faculty member who teaches the course.
- Are available online or by phone.
Peer tutors are available for certain subjects and also provide help with navigating Brightspace and other university systems. If you are interested in meeting with a peer tutor, or if you have problems or general questions, please write to Academic.Support@sunyempire.edu.
Please note: Peer Tutors are not available for paper review. Please use the On-Demand tutoring service for paper review.
