Objective 1: Provide learning and development opportunities for all SUNY Empire employees that support their ability to provide excellent services and continuous readiness to meet our students’ evolving needs.

  • Goal 1: Add two high-quality offerings for employee training and development each year until the conclusion of the plan.

Objective 1: Hire and retain a diverse workforce of top talent.

  • Goal 1: Increase retention rates of employees within their first two years by 1% each year until the conclusion of the plan.

  • Goal 2: Implement competency-based hiring and behavioral event interviewing in all searches by the conclusion of the plan.

Objective 2: Create a work environment that supports inclusion and employee wellbeing.  

  • Goal 1: Develop two well-being-related resources each year until the conclusion of the plan.
  • Goal 2: Add two opportunities for connectedness to the University community, in partnership with ODEI, each year until the conclusion of the plan.

Strategic Priority: Organizational Effectiveness  

Objective 1: Improve the employee digital experience, overall quality assurance, and the scalability of processes through improvements to HR-related activities.

  • Goal 1: Automate two HR processes each year until the conclusion of the plan.
  • Goal 2: Improve the usability of online content to reduce average monthly email volume to the OHR general mailbox by 50% by the end of the plan.
  • Goal 3: Increase the on-time completion rate of performance management programs and evaluations to 75% by the conclusion of the plan.

Objective 2: Develop a compensation strategy that ensures SUNY Empire is at parity with peer institutions and equitable across labor classifications and similarly situated employee groups.

  • Goal 1: Evaluate/review compensation of 50% of positions by the conclusion of the plan.

Strategic Priority: Raising our Public Profile  

Objective 1: Create a cohesive employer brand tied to our mission of SUNY Empire for prospective employees and develop campaign strategies to build robust followership that feeds into talent pools.

  • Goal 1: Manage our employer brand directly by reducing usage of external recruitment/search firms to zero by the end of the plan.
  • Goal 2: Participate in two external engagements with HR-related professional communities each year until the conclusion of the plan.
