


Military Veteran Opportunity Program

Our Purpose
As the largest-serving, four-year military-affiliated institution in New York, Empire
State University is committed to supporting our military members and their families.
The Military Veteran Opportunity Program offers the same expanded services as the
Empire Promise Program, with the academic wraparound support and monthly programming
covering topics like transition to civilian life and GI Bill benefits. Additionally,
the program provides military specific mentoring and advising.
The Office of Opportunity Programs works closely with the Veteran and Military Resource
Center to best support the needs of active duty, guard, reserve, and veteran members
along with their spouses and child dependents.
Key Program Components

- The program provides enrichment workshops that address the financial, academic, and career development of those in or affiliated with the military.

Eligibility
Students who are new to SUNY Empire and come from underserved backgrounds — including, but not limited to, those from low-income communities (such as Pell-eligible undergraduates), individuals with foster care experience, have earned fewer than 50 credits (including first-time students), returning students in need of academic support, and those who are military-aligned (active duty, veteran, spouse, or dependent).
