Commencement Closet

Hoping to attend commencement, but have no regalia? We've got you covered!

Empire State University Commencement Closet loans gowns, caps and master’s hoods. We even take care of laundering the garments before and after your event. The cost? Nothing. We simply ask that you return the robes after commencement so future students can benefit from them, as well. Students who borrow regalia are welcome to keep their cap and tassel.

To request regalia for a winter 2025 commencement ceremony, please submit the Commencement Closet Request Form. Upon submission of the form, you will receive a confirmation email that your request has been submitted. The Commencement Team will notify students requesting regalia if their regalia will be available starting November 24, 2025.
