Commencement Closet

Hoping to attend commencement, but have no regalia? We've got you covered!

Empire State University Commencement Closet loans gowns, caps and master’s hoods. We even take care of laundering the garments before and after your event. The cost? Nothing. We simply ask that you return the robes after commencement so future students can benefit from them, as well. Students who borrow regalia are welcome to keep their cap and tassel.

The request form for Spring 2026 Commencement Closet is now open. We will check our inventory and will respond as soon as we are able to confirm that we can accommodate your request, typically two weeks prior to your ceremony.
