Applicants to the MSIT program who cannot demonstrate foundation knowledge in computer
programming and computer networks will be required to take the additional 3-credit
course INFT 6122 Essentials of Information Technology. This will result in a 33-credit

Our faculty have spent decades honing their craft and are all about supporting
you in any way they can. They will do more than help you earn an online accounting
degree. They’ll teach you to challenge yourself and find new ways to solve problems.
Dr. Hurd leads instruction and curriculum design for our Master of Science in Information
Technology and Master of Science in Cybersecurity programs. Before joining Empire
State University, he brought his expertise to SUNY Albany, Southern New Hampshire
University, Excelsior University, and Hudson Valley Community College.
He holds dual Bachelor of Arts degrees in Computer Science and Mathematics, a Master
of Science in Teaching Mathematics, and a Ph.D. in Information Sciences with a focus
on Information Assurance and Online Learning.
In 2012, while at Hudson Valley, he was honored with the SUNY Chancellor’s Award for
Excellence in Teaching.
Lila Rajabion
Associate Professor
Lila Rajabion is an Associate Professor and Coordinator of the Master of Science in Information
Technology (MSIT) and MS in Cybersecurity at Empire State University, where she teaches
and develops the MSIT curriculum with a concentration in cybersecurity and web design.
She has more than 20 years of experience conducting research and providing consulting
in various dimensions of IT combined in the academia and private sectors.
