Individualized Credit for Prior Learning (iCPL) Fee
The individualized Credit for Prior Learning (iCPL) fee, formerly known as iPLA, is charged at the time an undergraduate student’s individualized prior learning assessment request is accepted by the Office of Prior Learning. This is a $700 nonrefundable fee. If a student has been charged any amount for individualized prior learning assessments under the previous fee structures, they will not be charged an additional iCPL fee.
Incurring Fees
When completing the iCPL submission process, a message appears informing students that they are incurring iCPL fee liability. By submitting their iCPL requests, a student is acknowledging their liability for the nonrefundable iCPL fee for all iCPL's that they submit at SUNY Empire, agreeing to all terms and conditions, and authorizing the appropriate charges to their account. The fees will be charged to the student’s account when assessment staff accept the student's submissions. An email notifying students of the charge will be sent at the time the charges are posted. At that time, students should review their student account statement in Self-Service Banner found on the Student Accounts page in MyESC. Charges will be added onto the term for which registration is currently open.
Making Payment
On the Student Accounts portal (login required) use TouchNet to make payment and enroll in the Time Payment Plan to pay for the fee in convenient installments. Accounts will be considered past due if payment or payment arrangements are not in place by the term start date and a financial hold will be placed on the account.
When an iCPL fee is added to a period when the student is enrolled and is eligible for financial aid, students may use excess aid to pay their iCPL fee. Questions regarding eligibility may be directed to financialaid@esc.edu.
