Public Statements at SUNY Empire

Empire State University respects the rights of all members of our campus community to express their viewpoints through appropriate forums. We recognize free expression and inquiry as critical to our mission as we prepare students to pursue knowledge and participate in a democratic society.

As an institution of higher learning, we are committed to fostering civil discourse, promoting academic freedom, and maintaining an inclusive learning environment. In alignment with this commitment, SUNY Empire’s public statements will be limited to extraordinary matters that directly call into question, undermine, or reinforce the university’s core mission and/or functions, as determined by the president. These statements should meaningfully add value to the conversation and represent the distinct viewpoint of the university.

Each member of the SUNY Empire community contributes to our mission-driven work to help learners of all ages achieve their educational dreams. We will continue to relentlessly focus on this goal in service to our students.
