It is now my pleasure to welcome President Lisa Vollendorf. Under President Vollendorf’s bold leadership, SUNY Empire has implemented numerous initiatives to improve the institution and the student experience, including the creation of a new strategic plan and initiatives to improve access, diversity, equity, and inclusion. Please join me in giving a warm welcome to President Vollendorf.

It is now my pleasure to welcome President Lisa Vollendorf, SUNY Empire’s sixth president and a lifelong advocate for public higher education. President Vollendorf has been a driving force in the continued growth and development of our institution. Under her bold leadership, we have implemented numerous initiatives to advance the institution and enhance the student experience, including the creation of a new strategic plan, new academic programs, and the transition from college to university. President Vollendorf is also a respected scholar in her field of women’s cultural history in Inquisitional Spain. Please join me in giving a warm welcome to President Lisa Vollendorf.

It is now my pleasure to welcome President Lisa Vollendorf, SUNY Empire’s sixth president and a lifelong advocate for public higher education. President Vollendorf has been a driving force in the continued growth of the institution. Under her bold leadership, the institution has implemented numerous initiatives to advance the institution and enhance the student experience, including the creation of a new strategic plan, new academic programs, and the transition from college to university.

Prior to SUNY Empire, she worked for 16 years in the California State University system in academic roles that included professor, department chair, senate chair, dean, and provost. She has worked at public universities across the nation, including Miami University of Ohio; Wayne State University; California State University, Long Beach; San José State University; Sonoma State University, and the University of Northern Colorado.

President Vollendorf is also a respected scholar in her field of women’s cultural history in Inquisitional Spain.

She earned her B.A. in English and Spanish at Colorado State University a M.A. in Spanish and Latin American Literatures, and a Ph.D. in Romance Languages at the University of Pennsylvania.
